‘But what does Scripture say? "Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son’ Gal 4.30 NIV.
God is for you. He has represented you with Himself, drawn you into Himself and graced you with His life. He lives in you. God has positioned you in the fellowship of Himself. You have been drawn by Jesus accomplishments into the fellowship of the trinity. Your inheritance is your home in God. Nothing can take this away from you.
Sadly The First and Second Great Awakenings never advanced the gospel of the Kingdom even if they did lead to mass scenes of panic leading to ‘repentance’ of a kind.
But people did not repent into the gospel of the Kingdom. What noted reformers promoted was a Christianised version of the knowledge of good and evil - a more vigorous, Try-Harder Gospel, shaped by the old covenant that God has left behind. This is a gospel where ‘being reborn’ means you attempting to be a good person and hence worthy of heaven with Jesus’ help. These reformers promoted a form of godliness without the power to be graced and transformed by the incarnated presence of Jesus in the Believer and in the church.
Many Believers across the world have not advanced much beyond this misunderstanding to this day. Knowledge of the new covenant is scarce. What passes as Christianity is seldom the unmixed radicalism of Christ our life - a total life in the Spirit of Sonship. Rather a mixture, a misguided hybrid of old and new covenant assumptions where people assume that living in the culture of Christianity is following Jesus. If Believers were to live in the radical life of the new covenant the power of the one ring would be broken and the Age of Men that began at the resurrection of Jesus would come to pass.
Jesus can use elements of Christian religion that are authentic. But the gospel of Adventism as preached by sincere Adventist evangelists like John Carter is not the gospel of the Kingdom. It is in fact an undoing of this gospel and a reversion to what Jesus did away with for a better gospel. The best thing that can be said for this ‘Other Gospel’ is that provides the possibility to start on the path to the real Kingdom of spirit and truth.
Men and women of God promote God’s gospel of Himself - the person of Jesus Christ as our life. As innocent, sincere and as grace-salved as we may be, we cannot think of ourselves as men and women of God if we are promoting a form of godliness that is not God and not endorsed by God. We cannot live from the law and be men and women of God. Living from the law we cannot know God, much less express Him. But we can be ‘graced’ even if what we are promoting is a cunningly devised fable. Men and women of God are men and women of God because they live from our Father because they are one with Father. They are sons of God in spirit and in truth.
The Kingdom of God is not a life-style, an ethical system or a religion. It is the persona of Jesus manifest as people. There is no holistic life-style for people who live from the law of from a belief system supported by a culture of religion. But there is a kingdom that is lived by us all when the person of Jesus is our life.
There is no law that is independent of God. This is an illusion sourced in Mrs White. Life and righteousness is God. These are ours when we are in Him - which we have been since the cross. So why deny yourself life and righteousness because of the teachings of the slave woman? Teaching that neutralises Christ come by the Spirit into your being is the work of anti-christ.
‘I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV.
No one who understood what God has accomplished for humanity in His Son, or who knew their Bibles would ever have accepted Adventism and its law based religion. In Adventism Jesus and his gospel is interpreted through the law. In the gospel of the Kingdom the law is seen through Jesus and replaced with the new and living way of Himself. The hermeneutic, the schema and lens for understanding the Bible is the person of Jesus Himself. This plan, this gospel of the Kingdom, this persistent declaration that Paul called ‘My Gospel,’ is in marked contrast to the poor mans gospel and judgmentalism of Mrs White’s ‘Other Gospel.’ If we are to be men and women of God the place to start is to preach the gospel of God.
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!Gal 1.8 NIV.
Adventism is more than a Christian perspective and an example of pluralism in the Body. It is at the undoing of the cross and the negation of the gospel of the Kingdom, exchanging blessing for a curse.
Paul’s Gospel, the gospel of Jesus, John and the apostles is God’s secret plan made plain, visible and available to all in Jesus and the ministry of Holy Spirit. Simply put, because of the new covenant you become the manifestation of Jesus with the status of a son of God - not just in name but in actuality. You are a son in spirit and in truth, privy to the spirit of wisdom and revelation and free to be the person you are - a son or a daughter in the freedom and creativity of Jesus. This is what Paul called ‘Christ in you the hope of glory.’
There is no whole person approach available to you or anyone in the law. Only woodenness and stultification. The knowledge of good and evil is innately fragmenting and dis-integrative. It dulls mental acumen and dissolves genuine spirituality replacing it with the cancer of religion and a closed mind that is too often mistaken for holiness. Law culture is pathetic because it is bereft of spirit and life.
Wholeness and a whole person approach is available to all when Christ is your life. You become who you are in Him. He literally lives in you by the Spirit and your life is lived out in communion with Father and Spirit in the Spirit of Sonship. But wait there’s more!
The new covenant is not a doctrine but the person of Jesus as your life and the life of the church. This is the reality for you and all who believe in Jesus as their life. One description of this is called the vicarious humanity of Christ. It means His life is totally your life. His invitation is to totally live this life with Him. This is what makes men and women of God.
‘And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come’ Matt 24.14 NIV.
