Sincere Believers can believe cunningly devised fables should they be innocent enough to trust to trust doctrines that are subtly crafted lies.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. So watch yourselves’ Luke 17.1-3 NIV.

Jesus declared Himself as the way to the Father. Adventism as an ideology and alternate gospel offers itself as the way. We need to watch ourselves and hold ourselves accountable to Jesus and the apostles teaching. The apostles teaching is the new covenant and the reality of the incarnation and with it our life in the Spirit of Sonship. Just as the Enemy told Adam and Eve that they needed to be like God when they already where, so today religion presumes to present itself as the union with God that you already have. Adventism promotes law and knowledge is the means to union with God. But you are already one with God as Jesus is one with God.

One can make a career from religion. And a good living. When I was a youth a wag advised, ‘If you want to become rich start a religion. There are enough gullible people about to follow anyone who sets themselves up as a Messiah.’ Throughout the ages those who have presumed to speak for God and link us to God have touted their ability to show us how to access life after death. They have assumed the great influence and political power that goes with this, asserting their monopoly as mediators, all the while obstructing the knowledge of the new and living way while building a career, promoting themselves and marketing religion. Some have promoted a version of the church that is not His church, a gospel that is not the gospel of the Kingdom supporting their legitimacy with doctrines that are cunningly devised fables for one simple reason. They are the doctrines of demons.

Jesus threw the money-changers out of the temple for a reason. On the deepest level this was the end of the artifice, the end of the lie initiated by Satan when he said, ‘You will be as gods.’ The simplicity of Jesus as entirely our life marked the end of the marketing of the many forms of good and evil and the start of the new creation that Paul called Christ our life. This new and living way is so simple and all-encompassing that it can only be subverted for a time before it breaks out under its own resurrection power. Since Jesus really is our life all other contenders face inevitable demise.

On the level of the church Jesus builds without human hands this truth incarnates a Godly intolerance of religious salesmanship and the hawking of private perspectives as the gospel and even as the salesmanship of pieces of revelation in the cause of career and self-promotion. The Lord once described this practice in the body as a pirate who robs treasure ships of revelation in order to make a ministry for oneself.

The expulsion of the money-changing counterfeit life with the spirit and life that is Jesus Himself is the unrelenting resurrection life-force that is Jesus Himself. While this is a work of grace rather than punishment, it is also a ‘sign’ of the pulling out of tares in all their forms - the uprooting of all that is not God and all that has been birthed by the evil one that is the hybrid gospel of the flesh and anti-christ.

There are people who in His church who pull out tares of false doctrine. They undo what has been robbed by the thief and expose God’s people to the limitless fullness of their inheritance in the vicarious humanity of Jesus. Genuinely apostolic teachers live in union with God and invite the alienated into the union that is theirs – the inheritance of the Free Woman. This undoubtedly upsets vested interests and can bring reproach and persecution. But it is better by far to be a harbinger of the gospel of the Kingdom than a passive or active promoter of cunningly devised fables and the doctrines of demons.

The revelation of our union, our at-one-ment comes when we are willing to relinquish ‘our Christ’ or an institutionalized Christ, or denominationally shrunken christ, or any kind of ‘false christ’ to receive Jesus as our living word. This repentance becomes ‘on that day.’

'On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV.
