Adventism is a subtlety perverse religion of the modern era. The fact that many Adventists are good living people, touched with elements of grace, has more to do with Christ’s ability to penetrate shrouds of whacky doctrine with His Spirit than the aberrant doctrines themselves - doctrines whose natural effect is woodenness and a culture that is religious but not genuinely spiritual. Adventism being a religion of the law is a religion of the head. It’s more akin to an ideology than an expression of the teachings of Jesus.

Adventism turns the cross on its head. Jesus did away with the law and replaced it with Himself. Adventism uses Jesus to multiply and empower the law - as though heaven works against itself, kicking own goals, to re-instate what it did away with.

The edifice of Adventism, whose foundation is the law, is demolished with one scripture however: “
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Gal 2.21 NIV. The implication is that by retaining ourselves in the law, we have made Jesus irrelevant - a fact that one can experience most Sabbaths in the ideological nature of Adventist preaching. There’s a reason why it is observed that Adventist discourse is not about Jesus. It’s about performing and about performing because its rooted in law.

So is Christ’s death and life a bounty for you - or do you pour it out on the ground as though it is nothing and trudge onwards with an
Ellen White Jesus and a deviant gospel? You don’t have to be rooted and stuffed in the law. God has placed you in Himself. You are rooted in God.

The cross put an end to Adam and Moses and replaced the law with the supremacy of the indwelling Christ. God replaced the externalities of the knowledge of good and evil and the Mosaic rules on rocks with the very person of Jesus manifesting by His Spirit in you and Bob and Mary. So Christ and not you in try - harder mode is your life.

On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. The day that we realize this, we will become spiritual people, sons and daughters of God and sharers in the divine nature. We share in the nature of God as sons because we are part of Him and God is part of us. None need live in separation from God just because they made the mistake of joining themselves to a body of death where the law instead of the Christ comes to live in our flesh.

I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV.

Today the glory of Jesus can be seen in you and in us all, when we receive Him as the Christ of God and as the One who transfigures us. He’s not mediated through the law or a bunch of values. He shares Himself. He is your life. He shares with you His grace and His person so that as Paul says, Christ becomes your life. Jesus is your life. He becomes who you are.

You have a Messiah. But it’s not the Sabbath. You have a Christ. But it’s not the false christ of the seventh day. You have grace who is the person of Jesus and not the Sabbath pseudo-grace. You have peace because Jesus has made you and Father one. You have rest because Jesus is your Sabbath. You are delivered from demonstrating your worthiness. You have a sabbath life. Jesus is your divine rest for human restlessness. He has made you and Father one.

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory’ Col 1.27 NIV.
