Many people walk in confusion because it suits them. They are content with being part of the crowd of subdued godliness they find there. Desensitised by religion, they are unaware of the fullness of Jesus that is theirs and uninterested in who they could be as sons of God. They have accommodated themselves to a passive conformity and are content with the wraith-like beings they have become.

‘Then he said to me: "Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel’ Ezek 37.11 NIV. Sincere or not, charismatic or evangelical, we are dead bones when we have not followed the pillar of fire into the new covenant where Christ Himself is our life and we and Father are one. Here we are life-giving spirits. There we are dead flesh.

In his book, Clash of the Covenants, Michael Capler writes,
‘As a child, I grew up in a great neighbourhood with plenty of kids and good friends. We were part of that generation where you could still leave the house early in the morning, come back after dark and nobody worried about you.

I remember a time when some of us were hanging out and one of my friends said, "Mike, my uncle says that verse you shared with us isn't in the Bible." Her uncle was
in the ministry and although I still recall the passage, the reference isn't important here. I went and got my Bible and showed our little group where it was with chapter and verse. I looked at them perplexed as I had just submitted proof that I had not made it up.

One of the other kids responded and said, “Well, Mike, he is a minister.” The point being that people will often believe, whatever they are told if they think they can trust the source. I learned early in life that it's hard to show people truth and freedom ,when they are content with being led by the blind.’

The wide way can lead to destruction or impotence. It’s not too difficult to selectively join together a jumble of scriptures that are unrelated to each other and call it ‘a teaching.’ Then convince ourselves that they support doctrines that effectively negate the gospel of Jesus and Paul. And then follow this up b by developing a system and culture to support ‘our aberrations.’ But what we have really done is to construct a wall that keeps out the truth.

We see truth in the Bible with the Jesus lens and the new covenant glasses. Anything other than this produces confusion.

Who are the blind? The blind can be the leaders and inmates of the Christian Industry – those whose pre-occupation is not so much the truth of who Father is and our freedom and fullness in Christ but in maintaining a ‘church’ and keeping the cogs turning.

Then there are the blind who have been immunised to the real gospel of the Kingdom and its extravagant and luxurious new covenant life. Socialised by their parents and church into another gospel, they linger with Adam in the land of the shadow of death. Contained in the law and separated from God and themselves in their minds, they are hard of hearing and dim of seeing. Yet their blessed hope is the Christ of God and the Jesus of Nazareth who lived from His Father and became the new and living way for we and Father to be one.

‘In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see’ Isa 29.18 NIV.

‘When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’ John 8.12 NIV.
