Under the heading The Supremacy of Christ in the NIV, we find this declaration of the authority and sovereignty of Jesus.

‘The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross’ Col 1.15-20 NIV.

Not only are all things under Jesus’ feet. He is entirely and absolutely sufficient in every aspect of your relationship to God, to eternity and to your present effectiveness as a river of living water. Our choice is to live from the dry creek and mischievous red herring of the law or agree with Father that Christ is entirely our life. Should we live from the latter we can live in peace and joy. Should the former be our choice we must engage in a ceaseless attempt to support a way that Jesus does not endorse. To be accurate we can be tares or we can be sons of God.

We may have an answer for everything yet, have little understanding of the Kingdom Jesus began. This is because the nature and achievements of what God has given us in Christ has been swallowed up by an ingenious delusion - the obsession with law and the fiction of the great controversy. The Enemy was tossed out of heaven. Then at the cross and resurrection of Jesus he experienced utter defeat. The issue has never been some war between Satan and Jesus Christ. The issue is that Father loves you and has included you in His family as a son. Paul wrote of Jesus in this manner:

‘.. His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
And God placed all things under his feet’ Eph 1.19-22 NIV.

The Bible must never be interpreted by Adventism. Adventism must be interpreted by the Bible and be accountable to it. Yet strangely enough, Adventists are convinced that their doctrines are supported by the Bible. If so, why are they so obsessed with the law when Paul affirms that if we retain the law then ‘Christ died for nothing?’ Are we to conclude that Adventism is nonsense posing as a denomination? In Adventism’s case Christ’s grace appears vain and His incarnation a nothing. But the fact is that the incarnation of God in us is everything – the difference between life in the Spirit of Christ and life in the law.

It’s difficult to see how Adventism can be a genuine Christian religion. It differs from most other sectors of the church not in some insignificant issue like water baptism versus sprinkling. It differs in who Jesus is, what He has done and our status as a result of the cross. Basically it makes a small Jesus, the cross of none effect and substitutes the Spirit of Christ for the law of Moses. It is another gospel.

Since its inception Adventism has never really been about Christ. It’s about the law and an end-times ideology of ‘who’s in and who’s out.’ Adventism’s addiction to the law substitutes a personal Jesus and a life in the Spirit for a bunch of behaviours and a belief system based on separation and self-effort. It kills the human spirit by substituting the spirit of Christ for the flesh of the law.

In a devious and conflicted sense, Adventism is supported by a Bible. But not Christ’s Bible or the Bible of the Christian church – the Ellen White version of it. The denomination has now resorted to its own version – the Clear Word Bible in order to support its specious beliefs. Don’t absorb yourself in doctrines of demons wrapped in the guise of a purported revelation. A religion that began in folly is progressing into irrelevance.

Adventist distinctives are supported by a jumble of miss-aligned scriptures - most of which have no relation to each other – scriptures that were mangled together with the authority of Ellen White and proffered as sound doctrine. Once a view had been endorsed by Mrs White it became set in concrete on the grounds of a vision and ‘I said so’ - her own version of papal infallibility? Mrs White was not a very nice person. She was a control freak and a mistress of manipulation – a cultural characteristic that has continued down to the present day.

A string of unrelated scriptures became the pattern in Adventist thought. William Miller built a cubby-house of belief with a jumble of scriptures purporting to prove that Jesus would return in 1844. All of the texts were taken out of context. The entire argument was carried out in defiance of Jesus teaching that
‘None know the day or the hour when the Son of Man will return.’

Apparently the Millerite’s imagined themselves smarter than Jesus. They blithely proceeded with their conjecture and we all know what happened. The SDA denomination arose as a result of a mistake and took its shape as a result of disobedience to the Lord.

Jesus did not front in 1844. There was no coming in the clouds. No clouds bursting asunder to mitigate the blunder. Not to be outwitted the pioneers got busy again. With another train-wreck of dis-connected texts they rationalised Christ’s non-appearance with the fantasy of the cornfield vision and the Investigative Judgment.

This fiction established the law and the Sabbath at the core of Adventism. The law because judgment inherently implies law and law judgment. The Sabbath because the law cannot be kept. So another flotation device was gripped with desperate fingers: The Sabbath. The Sabbath, always seen with a capital ‘T’ since it must play the part of grace and serve as a substitute Messiah. Its observance provides the illusion of ‘keeping the law.’ Worse than this however is the fact that false grace serves as a
substitute christ without providing one quantum of grace or a nano-particle of genuine spiritual rest. Whether it is admitted or not Adventism looks to The Sabbath where other Believers look to Christ. As such, this focus comes as close as one can get to the worship of last day false christs.

As a sincere follower of Jesus rather than of cunningly devised fables you need to know that the Pope did not change the Sabbath. Firstly Christians never kept it - other than a few oddities and Judaisers. The church did not have the power to change the Sabbath at that stage of history as it was not even a papacy. Power and authority was held in what is now called the orthodox church. In any case Sunday was not a ‘Sabbath.’ In the majority of cases Sunday has never been a Sabbath in the Jewish or Adventist sense. Sunday is merely the day that Jesus rose and began the new creation. This is the basis of Sunday church and the essential difference between living in what God has left behind and what He did for us in Christ..

You can search all you want but Sabbath-keeping is not taught in the New Testament. That’s because our Sabbath is Christ Himself. Sadly Adventism does not enjoy that kind of rest. Adventists have a Sabbath Day but certainly not a Sabbath life.

There is a Sabbath and there is grace. Jesus is both Sabbath and grace. He is rest and life as well as new creation. He is not the means to life. HE IS THAT LIFE. The old creation ended at Jesus’ crucifixion. The new one began when Jesus came out from the tomb on Sunday morning. Jesus is our rest from ceaseless self-vindication. He is the infinite life that lives in the Believer to create her as the manifestation of Himself.

Far from being a revelation of God Adventism is the subtle concoction of devious spirits. We know this because it accomplishes the un-doing of Christ and the neutralising of His gospel in the name of an improvement and the final revelation of truth. Its teachings are pitted against fullness in Christ which indicates its origin: The spirit of anti-christ. Spirits being spirit can inhabit many things – including false beliefs. They rise to defend their influence and power whenever there is a move to set these captives free. One need not be a bad person to live in this delusion – just one who accepts darkness for light and light for darkness.

Adventism might be said to be like an insect. Jerky in motion because it is tied to the law, the insect is part praying mantis and part scorpion. Under the guise of religious piety it harbours the sting of the law and of death. One cannot live in spirit and life in Adventism. Life in the Spirit and His gifts will not take root in a body of death – not for long. This ‘Message’ is the law come in a fleshly miasma that kills your spirit and dulls your life in God, substituting genuine spirituality with flesh and futility. It creates dead men walking, dead women talking.

We are not representatives of spirit and life because we have a ministry, go to foreign lands or have a ‘system.’ We multiply life when Christ is our life and we are living in the gift God has given us which is that we and Father are one.

The genuine Kingdom is Christ come in the flesh, Christ come in you, the trinity incarnated in your being and you drawn by love and grace into the fellowship of the trinity. Don’t give away the bread of life and a banquet at the Lord’s Table for the junk food of Adventism. You are alive in Christ. You belong in fellowship with the trinity and you are capable of being rivers of living water to a desperate and chaotic world.
